Welcome to the Lone Worker Protection course, this e-learning course creates an awareness to educate and inform delegates of lone working and how to become safer whilst working alone from home or away from the office.
Lone workers may face many hazards during their working day; however, many don’t have adequate training to deal with such hazards. Training is particularly important where there is limited supervision to control, guide and help in situations of uncertainty. Training may be critical to avoid panic reactions in unusual situations. Lone workers need to be sufficiently experienced and understand the risks and precautions fully.
This course is modular based and is split into two distinct areas, which are:

Module 1 – Welcome to the course
In this module you will be introduced to Trisat terms and how to get the most from the course (PDF). The last part of this module is to establish what you already know, so that we can assess your learning objectives at the end of the course.
Module 2 – Basic Situational Awareness
This module will enable the delegates to understand basic situational awareness ideas and concepts to aid in their personal security within the work environment as well as outside of work. You will be provided with the following:
1. Introduction Video explaining basic situational awareness
2. By the end of the e-learning course within this module delegates will be able to understand:
– What situational awareness is
– Why situational awareness is important
– How to monitor your own awareness
– How to identify when a situation is potentially dangerous
– What to do when you notice a potentially dangerous situation
– The most common situational awareness mistakes
3. The Colour Coding Awareness recap video
4. Becoming situational aware video
5. A quiz that focusses on the main points of the course
6. A recap video on elements to be remembered
Module 3 – Lone Worker – Working from Home
This is the first part of the lone worker courses – working from home. You will be provided with the following:
1. Introduction to the Lone Worker Awareness – Working from Home
2. By the end of this e-learning module delegates will be able to understand:
– The basics of security for lone workers
– The difference between hazards, risks, and risk factors
– The “S.A.F.E.R” Guide: five steps to safer working from home
– The main hazards involved in working from home, and how to minimize them
– How to reduce risk while travelling to and from home
3. More resources for you to research
4. A quiz that focusses on the main points of the course
5. A recap video on elements to be remembered
Module 4 – Lone Worker – Working Remotely
This is the second part of the lone worker courses – working remotely. You will be provided with the following:
1. Introduction to the Lone Worker Awareness – Working from Home
2. By the end of this e-learning module delegates will be able to understand:
– The basics of personal security
– The difference between a hazard, a risk and a risk factor
– The “S.A.F.E.R” Guide: five steps to personal security as a lone worker
– Staying safe while travelling for work
– Tips for situational awareness
3. More resources for you to research
4. A quiz that focusses on the main points of the course
5. A recap video on elements to be remembered
Module 5 – Before you go
You will need to answer questions on the course material from a CPD perspective and then you will be able to rate the course and download your certificate
